Naši pozornost zaměříme na institucionální teorii umění, která bude sledována v myšlenkové linii antiesencialistických autorů. Budeme se věnovat otevřenému pojmu umění Morrise Weitze a také pojmem svět umění, který zavedl Arthur Danto. Klíčovým momentem v naší práci bude analýza institucionální teorie umění George Dickieho a historická definice umění Jerrolda Levinsona. Postupně se také přesuneme k hodnocení uměleckých děl. Vymezíme se vůči formalistické estetice na základě textů Tomáše Kulky. V závěrečné části si na příkladech paradigmatických děl ukážeme, jak funguje světový trh s uměním. Tento úhel pohledu srovnáme s normativní koncepcí instituce, která je založena na byrokratickém modelu. This thesis analyses definition of art, mainly on the field of contemporary Anglo-American aesthetics. We are going to focus on institutional theory of art, which will be followed by thinking of anti-essentialist authors. We will engage in the open concept of art by Morris Weitz and also concept of the artworld by Arthur Danto. Next crucial theme is going to be analysis of institutional theory of art established by George Dickie and historical definition of art by Jerrold Levinson. Then we will move to evaluation of works of art. On the basis of Tomáš Kulka books, we will mark off formalistic aesthetics. Finally using examples of paradigmatic pieces of art we are going to show the way how the world art market is operating.
