Schůzi Předsednictva KSČ, která se zabývala přípravami zářijového sjezdu strany, přerušil premiér Černík zprávou o vpádu vojsk Varšavské smlouvy do ČSSR. Předsednictvo vydalo rezoluci, kterou okamžitě vysílal rozhlas. Prezident Svoboda odjel na Pražský hrad. Do Prahy přijely další a další tanky pěti "spřátelených" zemí. Lidé vyšli do ulic. Informace o dění v Praze jsou všeobecně známé. Jakým způsobem okupaci prožívali obyvatelé mimopražští, konkrétně lidé z Chebu? a pocítili Chebané uvolněnost pražského jara, nebo se chystané reformy do periferní oblasti Československa nedostaly? Cílem práce je zachytit události období pražského jara a srpnových dnů roku 1968 ve světle regionálních dějin města Chebu na základě studia literatury, archivního materiálu SOkA Cheb s doplněním o výpovědi pamětníků. The night from 20th to 21th August 1968 is consicered one of the worst nights in the modern history of Czechoslovakia. Bureau meeting of KSČ, whish dealt with preparations of September reunion congress, broke the Prime Minister Černík with the news of the invasion troops of the Warsaw Pact to Czechoslovakia. Bureau passed a resolution, which immediately aiered radio. The President Svoboda went to Prague Castle. More and more tanks of five "befriended" lands arrieved in Prague. People went to the streets. Information about events in Prague are generally known. How esperienced occupation inhabitants outside of Prague, specifically people from Cheb? Did inhabitants of Cheb feel the looseness of "Prague Spring", or the forthcoming reforms didn´t get into the peripheral areas of Czechoslovakia?
