V něm se vypráví o tom, že historie raného křesťanství není taková, jaká je dávno předkládána. Tento mezinárodní bestseller tvrdí, že církev nám celou dobu lhala o Ježíši Kristovi. Ježíš byl totiž podle Browna pokládán za smrtelného proroka do té doby, než ho pohanský císař Konstantin povýšil na Božího Syna. Ježíš byl ženatý s Marií z Magdaly (která ztělesňuje Svatý grál) a dokonce spolu zplodili potomky, z jejichž krve povstal královský rod Merovejců. Pokud by to byla jen fikce, nemohli bychom nic namítat. Avšak Dan Brown prohlašuje, že k těmto závěrům došel po dlouhém vědeckém a seriózním bádání. Lze Brownovi věřit? Cílem naší práce je zhodnotit, do jaké míry jsou Brownova tvrzení založená na historické skutečnosti. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown is a piece of detective fiction written in 2003. It tells a story about the history of early Christianity being different from the one we have been always presented. This international best-seller claims that the Church has constantly been lying to us about Jesus Christ. According to Brown, Jesus was, in fact, considered to be a mortal prophet until a pagan emperor Constantine elevated him into the Son of God. Jesus was married to Mary of Magdala, who is the symbol for the Holy Grail, and they even produced offspring, whose blood the royal dynasty of the Merovingians originated from. If this were a mere fiction, no objections could be raised. But Dan Brown declares that he arrived at this conclusion after a long and serious research. Can Brown be trusted?
