Note Ved. práce Christoph Haase Abstract Práce vychází z teoretického úvodu týkajícího se problematiky metafor v angličtině. Jsou zde porovnány různé teoretické přístupy vycházející především z kognitivně lingvistických výzkumů včetně definic metafory a jejího vývoje. Dále se práce zabývá analýzou metafor ve sportovních novinových článcích, které tvoří korpus pro výzkum a jsou přístupné online na internetových stránkách CNN Sport. Na základě analýzy jsou metafory rozděleny do skupin podle zdrojových oblastí, které odhalují způsob vnímání sportu. This thesis deals with problematic nature of metaphor and conceptual metaphor and focuses on the use of metaphor in newspaper sports articles, which reveals the use of source domains. In particular, it investigates which source domains influence journalist´s way of thinking about different kinds of sport. The analysis is supported by a small corpus containing 17340 words, consisting of sports articles accessible online on the CNN Sport website. Though, the first objective of this paper is to present general facts about metaphor, its definition and map the basic theoretical background. Another responsib.
