V teoretické části je popsáno dělení zrádných slov False friends z hlediska etymologie a sémantiky. Dále je zde popsán vliv francouzského a latinského jazyka v jednotlivých kapitolách historického vývoje anglického jazyka. Empirická část zkoumá nejčastější zrádná slova z pohledu respondentů, jejich význam v situačním kontextu a dále pak etymologii. Výzkumná data byla shromážděna pomocí rozhovorů, které potvrdil hypotézy formulované v diplomové práci. Průzkumu se zúčastnilo celkem 32 respondentů.. -- Abstract: The diploma thesis is focused on false friends in French and English. The theoretical part describes the classification of false friends from an etymological and semantic perspective. Furthermore, it discusses the influence of the French and Latin languages in different chapters of the historical development of the English language. The empirical part examines the most common false friends from the perspective of respondents, their meaning in situational context, and their etymology. Research data were gathered through interviews, which confirmed the hypotheses formulated in the diploma thesis. A total of 32 respondents participated in the survey.
