Pro tuto analýzu byly vybrány tři filmové adaptace - Romeo and Juliet (1968), Romeo + Juliet (1996) a Gnomeo and Juliet (2011) - které jsou srovnávány jak s originálem, tak vzájemně. Cílem této práce je pomocí vybraných adaptačních teorií a komparativní analýzy popsat proces proměny dramatického textu do filmové podoby. Následně jsou identifikovány a interpretovány typické rysy vybraných adaptací s ohledem na jejich kulturní kontext a umělecký záměr.. -- Abstract: This diploma thesis deals with the comparative analysis of selected film adaptations of William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Three film adaptations were chosen for this analysis - Romeo and Juliet (1968), Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Gnomeo and Juliet (2011) - which are compared with the original play as well as with one another. The goal of this thesis is to describe the process of adaptation of the original play into the film medium through selected adaptation theories and comparative analysis. Distinctive features of selected adaptations are subsequently identified and interpreted regarding to their cultural context and artistic intent.
