Důležité jsou vzhledem k tématu aspekty krásy, ošklivosti a vznešena. Práce na příkladech umění konce 20. století a počátku 21. století problematizuje fenomény násilí a ošklivosti z hlediska estetické a umělecké hodnoty. Naznačuje také otázku vztahu mezi hodnocením uměleckého díla a rovinou etickou. Východiskem a modelovým prostorem jsou umělecká díla, která byla zastoupena na výstavě Decadence Now.. -- Abstract: This Bachelor thesis, entitled The Phenomenon of Violence and Ugliness, deals with the themes of violence and ugliness within the framework of 20th Century art. Important aspects relevant to the theme of this thesis are that of beauty, ugliness and the sublime. Examples of late 20th Century and early 21st Century art are used as reference points in the discussion of the phenomena of violence and ugliness in terms of both aesthetic and artistic value. The thesis also addresses the relationship between the evaluation of a piece of art and its ethical character. The starting point and model space are works of art on display at the exhibition Decadence Now.
