Demografické stárnutí v zemích EU
Title statement Demografické stárnutí v zemích EU [rukopis] = Demographic aging in the EU / Šárka Koukalová Par.title Demographic aging in the EU Personal name Koukalová, Šárka, (dissertant) Issue data 2009 Phys.des. 44 l., [4] l. příl. : il. Note Lic. smlouva Abstract Současný populační vývoj v zemích EU je naprosto novým jevem v historii lidstva z hlediska demografické reprodukce. Vyspělé země si budou muset zvyknout na větší podíl starších osob v populaci a tomuto faktu přizpůsobit i své sociální systémy. From the point of view of the demographic reproduction, the contemporary population development in the EU is an utterly new phenomenon in the history of human society. It is often described as the second demographic revolution. The total fertility rate (number of children per woman) has fallen below 2.1 children. At the same time the life expectancy increases, and the populous post-war generation is getting to the retirement age. The combined effect of both these factors results in the ageing of population. The proportion of people in the post-reproductive age is growing and the EU countries are facing the problem of financing retirement pensions and ensuring health care that becomes more and more expensive. Because demographic estimations show no changes in the birth rate development, the EU member states must reform their retirement pension systems. Developed countries shall have to get accustomed to a higher proportion of old people in their population and to bring their social systems in line with this fact. Another responsib.
