Popisuje začátek procesů a klade si za cíl objasnit, jestli byly tyto procesy zahájeny na základě přání prostých lidí, nebo lidí z nejvyšších kruhů tehdejší společnosti. Snaží se najít spojitost mezi žalobci a druhem jejich obvinění. Tato bakalářská práce také seznamuje s pravidly, kterými se soudci řídili při souzení obviněného a poukazuje na nespolehlivost důkazů, které soudci přijali jako dostačující. Upozorňuje také na rozdíl mezi obviněním z maleficia a obviněním ze spolčování se s ďáblem a popisuje rozdílné důsledky těchto dvou typů obvinění. Také si klade za cíl objasnit, proč ženy patřily mezi nejčastěji nařčené a odsouzené pro čarodějnictví. Závěrečná část této bakalářské práce se zabývá možnými příčinami vzniku procesů. Na dané téma předkládá názory několika historiků: zabývá se vznikem procesů z psychologického hlediska, zabývá se možností otravy námelem, ekonomickými příčinami vzniku procesů a s tím souvisejícím frakcionářstvím vesnice, teorií konspirace a teorií hysterie. This Bachelor work deals with the Salem Witch Trials. It describes the initiation of the trials and it asks the question whether the trials were initiated by common people, or by the representatives of the highest levels of the society. It tries to find a connection between the accusers and the patterns of their accusations. It also presents the rules according to which the judges were deciding the individual cases and it emphasizes the unreliability of evidence the judges accepted as compelling. It highlights the difference between accusations of maleficium and the accusations of pacting with Devil and it describes its different implications. It also asks the question why mainly women were accused and condemned for witchcraft. The final part of the Bachelor work deals with the possible motives for initiation of the trials. It presents several opinions of historians on the given topic: psychological point of view, ergotism, economic situation in the village and factionalism, conspiracy and the theory of hysteria.
