Snaží se analyzovat informace obsažené v díle posledního řecko-římského historiografa a zařadit je do celkového kontextu znalostí římského vojenství. Cílem je také zpracovat přehled názorů novodobých badatelů na problematiku obsaženou v díle Res Gestae.. -- Abstract: Bachelor's thesis deals with military in historiographical work of Ammianus Marcellinus titled Res Gestae and at the same time describes personal life of said author. It tries to analyze informations contained in work of the last Greco-Roman historiograph and to place them in overall context of roman military knowledge. Goal of the thesis is to process summary of opinions of nowadays scholars who deals with the issue of Res Gestae.
