Abstract Ve své diplomové práci se zaměřuji na rané povídky Trumana Capoteho, které vyšly ve sbírce A Tree of Night and Other Stories. Při analýze vybraných povídek: Miriam, My Side of the Matter, A Tree of Night, se věnuji základním tématům, literárním postavám a specifickým rysům autorova vypravěčského stylu. Závěrem se pokouším o jejich zobecnění. In my diploma thesis I deal with an early short stories by Truman Capote which were published in a collection A Tree of Night and Other Stories. During the analyses of the stories: Miriam, My Side of the Matter, A Tree of Night, I focus on the basic themes, characters and specific features of the author´s narrative style.
