V první části práce autor vysvětluje základní charakteristiku druhu, což zahrnuje popis, zařazení do systému a prostředí ve kterém se nachází. Navazující část pojednává o chování ježka západního, tedy vybraných aspektech z oboru etologie, jako např. hibernace a ježčí parfémování. V poslední části práce se autor zaměřuje na ekologii a popisuje problematiku výskytu v závislosti na prostředí a predaci, ochranu a rehabilitaci na původním území a introdukci druhu.. -- Abstract: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to collect available data on the ecology and ethology of European Hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus), to organize and discuss it. In the first part of the bachelor thesis, the author explains the basic characteristics of the species, which include description, classification in the system and the environment in which it is located. The following part describes the behaviour of European hedgehog, i.e. selected aspects of ethology, such as hibernation or self-anointing. In the last part of this thesis, the author focuses on ecology and describes the problems of occurrence, depending on the environment and the predation, protection and rehabilitation in the original habitat and introduction of the species.
