Název a text práce v anglickém jazyce Abstract Hlavním účelem této bakalářské práce je prozkoumat období přechodu Germánského jazyka, staroangličtiny, do dalšího stupně jeho vývoje, střední angličtiny. Teoretická část této práce popisuje detailnějším historicko-lingvistikým průzkumem doby tohoto přechodu zejména lexikální změny staroanglického jazyka, taktéž ale i změny na jeho gramatické úrovni. Jako druhým hlavním cílem této práce je zjistit z jakého důvodu je střední angličtina považována za Germánský jazyk i přes veškeré změny, které jí odlišují od její původní Germánské formy, staroangličtiny. Tento cíl je hlavním motivem praktické části této bakalářské práce. The main aim of this thesis is to explore the period of the transition of a Germanic language, Old English, into its next stage of development, Middle English. By a deeper historical linguistic scrutiny of this transition the theoretical part of this work examines both lexical and grammatical changes which caused Old English to change into Middle English. The practical part aims to explain why Middle English is considered to have been a Germanic language despite its rich foreign lexica and tries to identify changes which differentiate Middle English from Old English. For that reason an analysis is conducted both on an Old English and Middle English text to support and vividly depict the theory of the language transition described in the theoretical part and also to verify the hypothesis according to which Middle English was still a Germanic language in its very core.
