Ve vybraných filmech sleduje nejdříve téma násilí a zločinu, do kterého se hlavní nebo vedlejší postava zaplete často vlivem svého okolí. Setkání s islámským náboženstvím odhaluje dané postavě nové možnosti a nabízí východisko ze zdánlivě beznadějné situace. Tato duchovní přeměna pomáhá postavě v napravování svých chyb a skýtá nadějné vyhlídky na lepší život.. -- Abstract: The aim of this thesis is to analyse the portrayals of Black Muslims in American film through predetermined themes. In selected movies, it follows the theme of violence and crime that the main or minor character gets involved with, often due to the influence of his surroundings. The encounter with Islamic religion reveals to the character new possibilities and provides a way out of the seemingly hopeless situation. The spiritual conversion helps the character with reparations for his past mistakes and offers promising prospects for a better life.
