K hlavním myšlenkovým zdrojům patří Adamsova obrana amerického republikánství proti kritice ze strany francouzského ekonoma Turgota; velká debata o přirozenosti lidských práv mezi Thomasem Painem a Edmundem Burkem a v neposlední řadě období Otců zakladatelů se zaměřením na Jamese Madisona a jejich polemika s francouzským pojetím republiky, zejména v podání Jeana Jacquese Rousseaua. Cílem práce je poukázat na jedinečnost amerického republikanismu v jeho počátcích. This diploma thesis deals with the philosophical origins of American republicanism. The main intellectual sources are Adams' defense of American republicanism against critique of the French economist Turgot; a great debate about the nature of human rights between Thomas Paine and Edmund Burke and finally the period of Founding Fathers, in particular focus on Madison, and their distancing from the definition of the French conception of the republic, in particular, by Jean Jacques Rousseau.
