Název a text práce v anglickém jazyce Abstract Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá porovnáním hlavních mužských postav v románech Na Větrné hůrce a Velký Gatsby, Heathcliffem a Jayem Gatsbym, v tomto pořadí. Cílem je porovnat tyto postavy pomocí dvou nejvýznamnějších motivů, kolem kterých se jejich život točil - zbohatnutí a pokus získat srdce ženy, kterou milovali. Důraz je kladen na jejich mládí a společenský status, do kterého se narodili, prostředky, kterými dosáhli jmění a jestli schraňováním peněz dosáhli svého cíle. Milostný život Heathcliffa a Gatsbyho je též studován s přihlédnutím k počátku jejich lásky, jejích rysů a důvěryhodnosti. Smrt obou těchto postav je také brána v potaz. This bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the male protagonists from the novels Wuthering Heights and The Great Gatsby, Heathcliff and Jay Gatsby, respectively. The aim is to compare these character according to two biggest themes that their life revolved around - becoming wealthy and trying to win the heart of the woman they loved. The emphasis is put on their earlier years and the social status they were born to, the means of gathering fortune and whether they achieved their goal by collecting money. The love life of Heathcliff and Gatsby is studied as well with a closer look on the origin of the love, its features and trustworthiness.
