The development of Australian English / Václav Přibyl. -- 2023. -- 50 listů. -- Vedoucí práce Christoph Haase. -- Oponent Tomáš Mach. -- Název a text práce v anglickém jazyce. -- Abstract: Cíl této práce bude nastínit historický rozvoj australské angličtiny od prvních osadníků až po současný stav této jazykové varianty. Autor bude zkoumat procesy, které ovlivnily slovní zásobu a výslovnost australské angličtiny v kulturně-historickém kontextu. Budou pojednávány různá historická období a kulturní faktory, které ovlivnily vývoj jazyka, včetně Aboridžinců, prvních britských osadníků, amerikanizace a menšin. Praktická část bude věnována analýze postupné změny výslovnosti samohlásek v takzvané General Australian English během dvacátého a jednadvacátého století. K výzkumu bude použito několik nahrávek z jiných časových období a vybraná slova budou následné porovnána s britskou Received Pronunciation. Výsledky bude poté podrobněji zkoumány.. -- Abstract: This thesis will outline the historical development of Australian English from the first colonists arriving in Australia to the current state of this language variant. The author will examine the processes that have influenced the vocabulary and pronunciation of Australian English in a cultural-historical context. Various historical periods and cultural factors that influenced the development of the language will be discussed, including indigenous people, early British colonists, Americanisation, and minorities. The practical part will be dedicated to the analysis of the gradual change in the pronunciation of vowels in General Australian English during the 20th and 21st centuries, using several recordings from different time periods and comparing selected words to British Received Pronunciation. The results will be then examined in detail.
