Je rozdělená na tři části. V té první je možné nahlédnout na válečná dění, fronty, bitvy očima vojáků, kteří narukovali ze strakonického okresu. Ve druhé části zůstaneme ve Strakonicích a v okolních vesnicích. Zde je ukázka místního života, jak moc jej válka ovlivnila, i když se zde nebojovalo. V závěru této části se dozvíme, jakým způsobem zde byla vyhlášena samostatnost Československé republiky. Třetí část se věnuje sanitním vlakům, které pomáhaly na frontách 1. světové války. Ty nechal vyrobit maltézský řád, dlouhá léta sídlící ve Strakonicích. Práce vychází z archivních pramenů, z kronik a pamětních knih jednotlivých obcí, čerpáním z periodik a z orální historie. Přímí pamětníci této události sice již nežijí, ale jejich příběhy ano. Práce je doplněna jmenným seznamem bojujících mužů ze strakonického okresu, ukázkami pramenných dokumentů a dobovými i současnými fotografiemi.. -- Abstract: This dissertation examines the impact of World War I on Strakonice and its surroundings. It is devided into three parts. In the first part, there is an illustration of war events, fronts and battles in the eyes of the soldiers from the Strakonice district, who enlisted. In the second part, we will stay in Strakonice and nearby villages. There will be shown parts of daily lives of the locals and how much the war affected them, even though there were not any battles. At the end of this part we will learn how the Declaration of Independence of the Czechoslovak Nation was announced there. The third part aims to present the ambulance trains, which helped on fronts of the First World War. The trains were produced by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which was based in Strakonice for a long time. This work is based on archival sources, chronicles and commemorative books from various villages, periodicals and oral history. There are not any living witnesses anymore, but their stories live on. This work is accompanied by list of names of men from the Strakonice district that served in the war, samples of source documents and historical photographs, as well as some current ones.
