Jelikož se jedná o silné a zásadní téma, které často svou emotivností posouvá hranice estetické distance. Nejprve je třeba se obecně zabývat tématem smrti a jejího zobrazování, a po té problematikou estetické distance a odolností představivosti. Zde vyjdeme z problematiky psychické distance, tak jak ji popsal Edward Bullough a na jejímž základě byla formulována distance estetická a dále z myšlení Kendalla Waltona o odolnosti představivosti. Naše uvažování aplikujeme na současné umění, z čehož se hlavně zaměříme na tvorbu Joela- Petera Witkina a Marlene Dumas. Oba autoři pracují se souvislostí smrti a lidského těla, a právě toto spojení působí velmi silně.. -- Abstract: Work will deal with the theme of death and its representation. Since it is a strong and crucial topic that often their emotional in pushing the boundaries of aesthetic distance. First, we need to generally address the issue of death and its appearance, and then the issue of aesthetic distance. Here we leave the issue of psychological distance, as described by Edward Bullough and on the basis of which was formulated aesthetic distanceand from thinking of Kendall Walton imaginative resistance. Our reasoning applied to contemporary art, which mainly focus on creating Joel- Peter Witkin and Marlene Dumas. Both authors work with the context of death and the human body, and it is this combination looks very strong.
