[rukopis] / Jan Maček. -- 2014. -- 68 l. -- Ved. práce Ondřej Skovajsa. -- Abstrakt: Tato bakalářská práce je spirituální interpretací básně Walta Whitmana "Song of Myself" vydání z roku 1855. V úvodní části práce se autor práce zabývá putováním myšlenek buddhismu do Spojených států amerických a problematikou, existuje-li prokazatelný důkaz, který by potvrdil, že se Whitman s těmito texty setkal. V hlavní části této bakalářské práce autor pomocí konkrétních ukázek demonstruje paralely mezi dílem W. Whitmana a buddhistickými texty, hledá společné motivy a snaží se dokázat společné myšlenky mezi těmito díly. Hlavním cílem práce je zodpovězení otázky, mohl-li být Walt Whitman označen za moderního amerického Buddhu a jsou-li společné myšlenky dostatečně prokazatelné. Autor této práce zvolil jako východisko pro porovnávání původní Buddhovy promluvy a pohled zenového buddhismu. Autor užívá vlastního volného překladu Whitmanova díla.. -- Abstrakt: This bachelor thesis is a spiritual interpretation of Walt Whitman's poem "Song of Myself", 1855 edition. The opening part of this thesis deals with the origins of Buddhism in the USA before the year 1855. The main question of the opening part is whether there is any evidence which would prove, that Walt Whitman was interested in Buddhism and that he had seen Buddhist texts prior to the publication of his poem in 1855. In the main body of this bachelor thesis its author demonstrates the parallels between W. Whitman's "Song of Myself" and Buddhist texts, by using concrete examples from the mentioned works. This thesis also searches for common themes and tries to prove common ideas of these works. The main objective of this thesis is to answer the question, whether we could describe Walt Whitman as a modern American Buddha and whether the common ideas can be adequately proven. Author of this thesis chose the Buddhist perspective of the original Buddha's speeches as well as the perspective of Zen Buddhism. Author of the thesis uses his own liberal translation of Whitman's poem.
