Prostor bádání se zaměřuje na rok 1968 v Československu a obou částech Německa. Hlavním bodem této práce je vliv událostí roku 1968 na Krylovu a Biermannovu tvorbu. Práce je členěna do sedmi kapitol s ohledem na důležitá fakta, která měla vliv na Krylův a Biermannův život. Cílem práce je pochopení názorů obou umělců. Analýzy textů ukazují, do jaké míry se oba umělci rozlišují a co mají společného. Tato práce hledá odpovědi na otázky: Co fascinovalo posluchače na písních Biermanna a Kryla? Co spojuje tvorbu Kryla a Biermanna? V čem se liší protestsong v Československu a v NDR? Jaký vztah k sobě obě osobnosti měli? Tato práce představuje průzkum v oblasti názorů a životů Biermanna a Kryla, čímž objasňuje do prozatím neprozkoumané téma.. -- Abstrakt: This thesis The work and the life of Karel Kryl and Wolf Biermann in 1968 concentrates on the work of Karel Kryl and Wolf Biermann, specifically in 1968 and within Czechoslovakia and both parts of Germany. The main theme of this thesis is the influence that the events of 1968 had on the work of Karel Kryl and Wolf Biermann. I have divided my thesis into several chapters, taking into consideration all the important factors which impacted on Kryl's and Biermann's work. Both each individual chapter, and the textual analyses and nterpretation, help us to understand the opinions and views of both opposition activists. The biographies of the two songwriters form a crucial part of the thesis, as their lives influenced and formed them and their ideas. The textual analyses show how much the two artists differed from each other, and how much they had in common. This thesis reveals the answers to many questions: What was it about the songs of Kryl and Biermann that fascinated their listeners? How did protest through music in Czechoslovakia differ from its counterpart in the GDR? What sort of relationship did the two singers have? No previous thesis has focussed directly on the topic of Biermann and Kryl. This thesis is a new development in the academic study of Biermann's and Kryl's ideas, and thus fills a major gap in our knowledge.
