Hlavním cílem práce je vytvořit přehledný materiál poskytující informace nejen o práci, ale i o organizační struktuře, programatice a perspektivách dalšího vývoje Skupiny progresivní aliance socialistů a demokratů v Evropském parlamentu (S&D). Pro tyto účely bylo nutné nastínit vznik a vývoj mezinárodní spolupráce socialistických stran od 19. století po současné působení Strany ev. -- Abstrakt: This thesis is called the Position of the Group of Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. The main objective of the thesis is to make a well-arranged material giving the information not only about the work, but also about the organizational structure, policy and politics and perspectives of the further development of the Group of Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament (S&D). To achieve this goal, it was necessary to outli e the origin and development of the socialist parties international cooperation from 19th century up to current function of the Party of European Socialists (PES) in the European Union politics, and in the European politics as well. Not less important part of the work is to chart the present lay out of the European Parliament after the last election in 2009. Then, the text apart from the original principal objective to give the general characteristics of S&D also brings the current description o all seven factions in the present Parliament, including their development, organizational structure and policy and politics.
