In the period of more than six months the children were introduced to local folk tales which they later made into paintings processed in a combination of techniques. In the final stage, the artworks were presented at an exhibition that was held at Jilove Chateau. The aim of the project was to deepen and extend the children?s knowledge concerning the local area. By those activities we meant to stimulate a certain degree of patriotism in both the participants and the visitors of the exhibition. To reach those aims we chose art techniques, because they are a natural and popular means of expression with children. It could be expected, then, that the students would willingly participate. And the expectations were met. By writing this thesis the authors also pursued the goal of bringing their activities closer to the public. We also believe that our colleagues can draw inspiration for their future assignments.
