Zčásti je to zapříčiněné nepostačující informovaností široké veřejnosti o tomto nepříznivém fenoménu. Jelikož zdravotníci mnohdy ošetřují oběti násilí, měli by být dobře informováni nejen o všech podobách násilí, ale o této problematice celkově, neboť jen tak bude jejich pomoc konkrétním obětem účinná. Průzkumem bylo odhaleno, že rozsah informovanosti široké veřejnosti o problematice zneužívání, zanedbávání a týrání seniorů je opravdu neuspokojivá. Mnoho zdravotníků se domnívá, že řešení problému špatného zacházení se seniory by mělo spadat pod jiné instituce (policie, soudy atd.). Průzkum také potvrdil špatné zacházení a zanedbávání seniorů ve zdravotnických a sociálních institucích ve zkoumaném regionu. Širokou veřejnost v této práci zastupují pracovníci ve zdravotnických a školských zařízení v Ústeckém regionu. Annotation: Abuse and neglect of seniors is a serious problem, about which expert debates have been conducted, but nevertheless this problem is not in the forefront of society's interest. It is partially the result of insufficient awareness among the general public regarding this unpleasant phenomenon. Since healthcare workers often treat victims of violence, they should be well informed not only about all types of violence, but also about the problem as a whole, since only in that way will their assistance to specific victims be effective. Research has shown that the extent of the general public's awareness about the problems related to abuse and neglect of seniors is truly unsatisfactory. Many healthcare workers believe that solving the problem of poor treatment of seniors should be the responsibility of other institutions (the police, courts, etc.). Research has also confirmed bad treatment and neglect of seniors in medical and social institutions in the examined region.
