This region occupying a part of the river Labe (Elbe) lowlands and its surroundings. By the regulation of this biggest Czech river at the beginning of the last century, there arose a lot of Labe river arms separated from riverďs bed. Some river arms were created naturaly by periodical river flooding of territory at the banks. Old river arms are typical element in Pardubice landscape. Their functions are unsubstitutable. They create locations for a lot of protected animals and flowers. In the last century, the country was intensively exploited by human activities - agriculture and industry. The rest of primary vegetation in region can be found near the banks. River arms and lakes became the most important biocenters in landscape. This thesis is about the nature in region of town Pardubice, specially about old Labe river arms.
