Dále stručný životopis spisovatelky a zařazení její tvorby do kontextu norské literatury. Podává interpretaci několika jejích prozaických textů. (Insert: 4 pages of hooked illustration) This Dissertation Thesis is a monograph of the famous Norwegian writer Sigrid Undset (1882 - 1949) who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1928. Undset is best-known for her novels about life in the Scandinavian countries during the Middle Ages. Undset's later novels were set in her own time. In most of these works wove religious themes in the story. The Dissertation contains a view of Czech special literature which has been dedicated to Undset. Further, short biography of the writer and an integration of her works into the context of Norwegian literature is mentioned. The main section of the Dissertation is focused to the writer's early works, namely Gunnar's Daughters (Fortellingen om Viga-Ljot og Vigdis), Jenny, Spring (Vaaren) as well as the masterworks Kristin Lavransdatter and The Master of Hestviken (Olav Audunsson i Hestviken).
